Playing With Wolves

"Playing With Wolves" is an exciting 90 minute program that was designed for children and young adults. Yet, it has been our experience that all children, the young and the old alike, have learned and gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for these magnificent creatures. Why should we care about the wolf, why are they considered a "keystone species"?  Are all dogs descendants of the wolf?  Do wolves make good pets?  Are wolves dangerous to people?  Did you know that wolves live in communities just like we do?

To say that wolves are misunderstood would be a huge understatement. These beautiful and majestic creatures have been unfairly persecuted throughout the world for centuries with a reputation based on erroneous myths that nearly led to their extinction. Did you know that only the "Alpha Pair" or "Breeding Pair" as they are now called, get to mate?  Do wolves mate for life?  Why do wolves howl?  Do they only howl at night? What can I do to help protect the wolf  Where can I learn more?

The gray wolf, whose historic range covered approximately two thirds of the United States, had all but disappeared by 1974, Wolves were put on the endangered species list. Today only a handful of states can lay claim to their residency.(www.fws.gov) These and many other questions will be covered in our presentation which will end with a "Question & Answer" period followed by a "Meet & Greet" with our wolf-hybrid ambassadors, Shadow, Allie and Takoda and their pups in a fun, safe and responsible atmosphere.

In mid-January of 1995, 14 wolves were reintroduced and released into Yellowstone National Park. This federally funded effort proved enormously successful, not just for wolves; the depleted environment flourished as well. Recently de-listed, wolves are once again in danger from mankind. Shadowland Foundation's educational programs dispel all misconceptions about wolves and their "scary" reputation. We are passionate about teaching children, Young and Old, about wolves and their invaluable contribution to our global environment. We appreciate your comments or any questions you may have about our program.
